Our only pourpose is to keep
alive the name of ALBERT KING
The Albert King Tribute Band was born in August 30, 1997, almost 5 years after Mr Albert King passed away. A group of Albert's fans put all the bluespower to make a band in His honor and play his stuff to remember him forever and teach to the blues fans and new blues fans generations about the ALBERT KING legacy.
Learning the style and collecting records , they improve the knowledge and get the commitment point: TO KEEP ALBERT KING MEMORY ALIVE.
Founded by Gustavo Rubinsztein and Daniel Raffo, they started to road the local blues scene in Buenos Aires , Argentina , with Omar Itcovici on guitar, playing in the most importants clubs and stages such as Blues Special Club, Ridres, Hard Rock Caffe, TheRoxy, Satchmo, Buenos Aires News, and private parties , allways doing King’s songs and trying to keep alive his style and presence.
Mariano Cardozo - tenor saxophone - has the horns seccion on charge, and Marcelo Proto (keyboards) was from the beginning the man who put the keyboards as an ALBERT’S keybord player, as Gonzalo “mono” Martino put the percussion style looking for the Albert’s drummers sound and style like Dave Jefferson.
The Albert King Tribute Band’s musican had the pleasure to shared stage with big ones like Eddie C Cambell, James Wheller, John Primer, Larry Mc Cray, Bruce Ewan, Phil Guy, Raful Neal, Little McSimons, Lorenzo Thompson, Eddie King, Aron Burton, Dave Myers, Lurrie Bell, Dave Mayers, Billy Branch, Carlos Johnson, and more... when they came to Buenos Aires to performer at the Blues Special Club in La Boca town, and being support band.
In May 2000, Otis Rush invited the band to play with him in his birthdayparty at Blues Etc Club from Chicago.
During 2001, part of the band did a trip to the States to visit the Albert King grave.
It was the biggest emotion since Albert’s visit to Argentina..
Once they put a feet in Memphis start a sort of meetings and contacts like meet Albert’s friends and found the former Albert’s BUS he use to tour.
Jose Pardo, a young promising guitar player with lot of Albert’s style joined the band and complete the actual formation.
In Oct 2001 they participated in the recordings of "BLUES en VIVO" during the Blues festival in La Boca, Buenos Aires at the Blues Special Club.
The 2002 start with lot of projects to the band.
They recorded the new work “ We play the blues for you”.
In April, the band visited the States and thay did 3 shows in Memphis TN to tribute Albert's memory in the 10th anniversary of his death.
The shows were in BLUES CITY CAFE at the Beale Street, ZANZIBAR at Main Street, and the W.C.HANDY PARK.
Allways with the big aceptation from the warm audience, and with a big support from the Blues Foundation and the Memphis blues scene.
